Hi All My TH'ing Friends
My first and only Gold coin came after my 24th year. Using my Whites XLT with a BlueMax 900 I searched a known Civil War encampment. I swept a deer trail and after my first CSA button I received a one way beep that lit my LCD screen as a penny/dime and then went blank. I kept sweeping the site with the same results; I first thought my XLT was going bad but as the signal was always the same decided to excavate to see for sure what I had. I cut a nine inch diameter plug six inch deep and checked it for the target and there was nothing in the plug. I again swept the hole and again the momentary beep; screen lit up as a penny/dime and then blank again. I again stuck my digging tool (M-7 US Army bayonet) into the ground and 'clunk' I had to cut a larger hole as I had hit something solid. Well the solid item was a large brick which I swept with my XLT just to make sure it was not inside and it was not. I rechecked the hole and again I get a beep, my screen lights up and goes blank again. I cut my second nine inch plug at about five inches deep (this makes a total of about 13.5 inches) pulling the plug I remove it from the hole and flip it over; there right in front of me is the single most beautiful gold coin I have ever seen in all my years of TH'ing. What I had found was an 1854 Type I $1 Gold dollar. Check out the pictures.
Remember; dig all those faint targets and in with all the junk will be the gem find that you will remember forever!

PS: Remember; Don't leave it in the ground!
