I have a smokin firewood business in SanDiego. I have access to already dry standing black oak from the laguna fires 10 years ago and the pizza n bbq joints pay alot for it. usually 375-450 a cord. calaveras county has more tweakers with a chainsaw than honest citzens which makes it hard to breakout in the wood biz up there. Maybe I need to go underground and just keep digging. Kuger we definately need to link up. When I head up that way. I have some cool toys for wood processing.
:thumbsup:Thats what I am talkin bout bud,you got a niche!!
We loaded up a Gooseneck horse Trailer one time near Santa Barbara(we were Rodeo bums and would do anything to pay our next entry)and parked off the freeway down by L.A. and sold it for $450 a chord!!We were rolling in hgh cotton, till Johnny Law wanted our business lisc. >:( They all want there piece of the pie! Good for you man :headbang:

Be sure and hit me up when you get up this way

I could build one with scoops on it to catch your rocks , make it hydraulic drive and on rails to follow you along side the hole you were working. Could be done , but thats just too much I think , i think Ill stick to using milk crates , works fine for me. Best part is that treadmill is variable speed and still has the Ipod dock hooked up. keeps track of how long it took you to split wood and calories burned haha

Thats classic!!

A 55 Gal plastic drum cut in half works good too if you have some way to winch it out of the hole....somebody relieved me of my winch >:( :-\

I try to keep my winching gear to manual stuff, comalongs . bebe winch ( not sure I spelled that right) but Ill just stick with my milk crates that work for me. gimmicks and fancy stuff break. I don't like it when stuff breaks. haha so I just stick to hard work and suck it up.

I agree, but that little winch sure did save a lot of work and sore back!

A VW hood makes a great sled for winching rocks out of your hole. A simple cargo net keeps them on. Chainsaw winch and you're all set to rip a ton out of the hole in no time ;)

Lewis winch is pretty portable too. I think my modded husky 390's would make short work of any winching. I have an old gear drive hand crank winch i use usually with 150ft of 3/8's cable . It works like a champ for being made in the early 1900's. Enough cable and pulleys and there isn't much I can't move. And we all know that moving the hard stuff is where the shinny stuff likes to hide the most.

In tonights debate there was a lot of talk about visa's for smart people, but that's not the answer, the answer is to start stressing the sciences in school and not politics. My youngest granddaughter say her history teach thinks these "occupy" morons are right, this dingbat should be taken out behind the wood shed and have his face rearainged.

Speaking of learning, I learned something last night from a link to as video that Gary Goldberg of Prospectors United sent me. When I watched it the hair on the back of my neck, amongst other things, stood up. This is another question to ask a congressman or senator running for reelection, do you support sustainable living or agenda 21? If they yes ask them why they support handing over of our country to UN socialists. After watching the vid I whipped out a letter and sent to the Currie Coastal Pilot, haven't heard from them yet, they support shutting down the Chetco River.

The link is in the letter which follows.

Gramps

To the Publisher and Editor,

In regards to the planned shut down of the Chetco to miners and other property abuses which I’m sure you’re aware of I thought you might be interested in this video. When I viewed it flames began rising behind my eyes and my fists began to tighten. As a retired USAF noncom I must say that I didn’t serve my country for twenty years to have it turned over to an organization run by foreign socialists to have their way with.

Our government was planned and brought into being as a representative republic, we the people are the government and the the lands not owned by private citizens or corporations is public land, it’s our property, to use and enjoy within within certain minimal restrictions. If you pay close attention to the map they show with the few population centers, the rest of the land, the vast majority, is restricted for the government use only. This must never ever happen, but the closing of the Chetco, first to the miners, and later to everyone is the first step in the plan.

If you journalists, a time honored profession, you will confront the BLM & USFS and for that matter the environmental groups pushing for the closure with this and ask them point blank if this is their plan for the future of this country.

The "Agenda 21" and the "Wildlands Project" have been in effectsince the late 70's. Started with the spotted owl. Look at the Timber industry now in our area. It's in Shambles. I work for one of 3 loggin outfit's left in the Yreka area. As sad as it is to say....Dredging in Cali is done. Sucks cause i just inherated my dads dredge and have been ITCHIN to plop it in the water (have many happy childhood memories workin the sluce while dad was underwater). For most of my life I have seen the politicans of this backwards state slowly decimate the North. it PIsses me off to no end that I have to take my"hobby money" out of my local community. And don't expect ANY help from our local politicans....they have as much pull and a nuttless knat. As much as I want to stand up and fight to the bone for our rights...it'll do no good. All that will happen is eventually this state will regulate all timber, mining, ranching and agriculture right out of existance....then me and wify are headed to Alaska....what choice do we have..

P.S. REALLY think it's time we pushed the State of Jefferson...only way we can save ourselves from the liberal enviro cultist insanity
