Thinking about selling a feww ounces of gold as I received some bad news lately - Please let me know what price would be a good "lock" price to sell at. Any speculation on the market would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

depends on who you sell it to. Pawnshops may give you 60or 70 percent Jewelry Stores may give 70 -80 .. Also depends on the type of gold!! DUST or nuggets or a solid gold brick..Each can fetch a different price.. I can not tell you exactly what you should ask but I would not accept lower then at least 75%... But like all things find the right buyer and their is always more money to be made.. Sorry to hear about the rough times and hope you get thru them with ease!!

Gold Strike in Africa just started. Bombs about to fall.

If you can wait a couple of days. Then sell as it goes up. Buyers are more willing to pay more when the price is rising. Price will meet resistance at 1430, if it gets passed that then 1500 and something.

Thanks a lot for all your input. I am thinking about selling to ARA Gold in Texas - Any thoughts on those guys?

We still buy some gold and always pay 90% of current price.
You can contact me over at the website and then we can talk.
TRUST... is your biggest concern, that is why a lot of people sell to us.
Also we don't assay test. If it's not what we're looking for I have a reliable source for you.

Ringfinder.... be aware.... Those that buy gold will only pay you for the amount of gold and silver in your poke.... not the impurities that will come with the precious metals. That is to say, your nugget(s) will not be pure so expect the offered quote to reflect that. TTC

From your Avatar Title, TheRingFinder, I would assume that your gold is in old rings and those should sell themselves as they are refined with a predetermined amount of silver or copper in them to attain the karat value usually stamped on the inside of the ring or on a flat item. IE: you are selling jewelry so the smelting should require only a minimum of rework to obtain pure gold, silver, copper etc.

But if your title is only a title and you actually have natural gold nuggets then that is a different story. Nuggets go for what the buyer will pay! If its a large nugget that is collectable then top dollar should be asked. If its flower then close to top dollar and again if it is "specimen gold" gold in with quartz or some other rock then it depends again on what the seller will pay for. Said another way, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I would not give you a clad quarter for a Slavador Dalley (sp?) painting even though I know he is a famous painter, lovers of his work would give all they have for some of his paintings. If a specimen is just dynamic in appearance then more money should be offered for it.

The best of luck with your sale! My best wishes to you during this hard time.................63bkpkr

Good point on the rings, etc. I assumed it was placer gold.

Don't know anything about ARA, but I have used Midwest Refineries on a few occasions, and was quite pleased. They pay 95% of gold content, with no other fees for assaying etc. Precious metals buyers, smelters, refiners of gold, platinum, silver scrap metals, dental gold scrap, platinum thermocouple wire, crucibles, silver scrap. Gold refiners, platinum scrap buyers, recyclers karat gold jewelry. Sell gold, platinum and sil Always get a check back really fast. Good luck, and hope the bad news isn't too bad.

ARA pays 98% on gold. (after refining) have never had a problem with them.
