Gold is where you find it and this proves that saying!

So just this week, my wife comes to me and says, ‘look what I found in a second-hand shop – do you think it’s real gold?’ I eye the very small gold coin with 1945 and Mexico origins on it. And say, ‘well it certainly looks like real gold coin to me.’

So doing a deep dive on Net, I find that:

1945 dos pesos gold coin worth approx. $250.00 on E-bay (about uncirculated)

The current ‘melt value’ of a 1945 Dos Pesos gold coin is approximately $202.63,
as it contains 0.0482 ounces of .900 fine gold.
Mexican dos pesos is struck in 90% pure gold and weighs 1.666 grams.
NOTE: many were restruck in later years but not sure when.

Here’s where it gets stranger, she found it in a Vintage Ceramic Japanese Ginger Jar with a Lid. Sample shown below. Perhaps someone purposely placed it there as a 'secret Santa' type give-away? No idea.

So my wife found the 'first gold coin' between us in a most unlikely spot which just goes to prove,
Gold is where you find it! Amazing!

nah I was way off - she paid 99 cents for jar!

that is not the jar she purchased - it is a sample jar. Not even same color. But certainly worth more that 99 cents. I realize some will have a hard time believing this story and that's fine. I have no reason to make up such. And oh BTW, two of my relatives are very wealthy, and could have easily planted this coin when we were not present in room. I've searched my mind for why it showed up seeming out of no where. But my wife is a very lucky person with these things. This one is puzzling but there are people that generous in this world even if you have never met any.

Tape comes right off. Certainly not Ming dynasty or anything like that. Just cobalt blue which many people like. Still it remains a mystery how gold coin got there! We're left to our imaginations just like when we find a coin in the dirt. The who, what, where, and when is frequently a real mystery.

My guess is, Grandma or Grandpa put it there for safe keeping. When the inevitable happened, their stuff was donated. The family didn't know about the coin. Going out on a limb her, and going to say it was a Mexican family to boot.
