This is sitting here outside my trailer and I was told that it's a centrifuge... ? That's a small possibility up top under the black metal lid but... I would like to know if there's a brand name associated with it and a positive ID. Its about 6 feet tall over all. 3 feet to the table. You can see the standard faucet for more size.

Reed I don't know either BUT if nothing else it would make a nice lawn art OR a flower pot It does appear to look like a centrifuge . It may be the find of the year !

I really do not know why -- but I'm thinking this thing used to have a glass jar on top where the springy thing is.

Agree. A glass container fit on it and the 'spring thing' held a filter in place - like a big version of an old engine fuel filter.

I'm guessing it was used to filter sediment from well or creek water.
