I'd say based on the pics and info: pyrite

Since its associated with coal beds.

Yea, sorry about the pics but for some reason the light just wouldn't agree with my camera.

I will say that it doesn't change color and is a real dark yellow.

I'll say this- if it is gold I hope you have a claim staked. I'll pray it is gold(for your sake) but bet its' pyrite. HH yelnif...

This is pyrite for sure. You can tell by a couple of things. First that its associated with coal. You only get coal from swamp type environments or other similar shallow restricted environment. The reason you have coal is due to the lack of oxygen in the water to oxidize and degrade the organic matter. Since there is little oxygen you are likely to precipitate pyrite due to the anoxia of the water. There are a few other more detailed reasons but the bottom line is that it's pyrite.

A quick internet search yesterday showed at least two places in the world they are finding gold in coal.
Also the deepest coal mine in the world was 1300 m down (closed now).
Youngblood quit playing games. Tell us what you know about your rock. It is an interesting rock but why waste time guessing based on a couple of pictures. You have it in your hand and have obviously had an expert look at.

In any case I would agree that secondary deposition of gold would be the most likely (still highly unlikely) reason. But it's hard to figure out a old deposition all model with a single rock.

The guy I got it from's coal mine is 1200-1500 ft and one near it is 2500 ft down. I'm not saying anything about your facts specifically, but remember you can't trust everything you see on the Internet. The coal mine doesn't post ALOT on the Internet or to general public.
