Got out yesterday to a local beach for a few hours. Got some keepers including two silver Washingtons, a Barber dime, and a '43 merc. Also got a sterling Catholic cross. Got four junk rings too. I also got a ring that has no markings on the inside but I'm 99% certain it's gold. Can anyone add any input on if the design means anything? Possible age? Many of the objects were lost in the 1940-1960 range, but it could have been worn for years prior. The discoloration on the inside tends to happen at this beach where two pieces were put together. The salt water here is rough on it.

Testing123,
Nice virgin site your hunting in! Lower carat gold does tarnish a little bit! Nice finds even though you find this stuff in salty water. It is surprising that they are in as good of condition as they were.
Congrats again on your finds,

Nice finds. Would make a good day for anyone.

Congratualtions on the nice selection of recovered coins! :occasion14:

I was thinking it might be 10k. Will have to get it tested to know for sure. Three of the four silver coins in the pic I rubbed with salt to get the black off. It actually does a decent job of taking the crud off without scratching it.

Someone mentioned the design on the top is the Sacred Heart of Jesus. That looks like a pretty good match.

I am wondering if the design is significant of a death of a loved one? A cross over a heart. That is what I see. Congrats on the silver and gold. Looks gold to me.

Nice finds - Looks like Gold to me also, probably 10K - I find a lot of Gold 10K from the early 1900's - 50's.

You scored an awesome bunch of keepers. :occasion14: Those Buffalo's are cleaner than any I have ever dug.

Buffalo's and V nickels out of the water come out like new. Silver comes out of the water black. Opposite from the ground.

Very well done. Nice haul of oldies. Congrats.

Very unique and beautiful design Gold ring! Congrads!!

And Wish my silver came out like that...

I've had pizza with less crust than those coins!

At this location, certain areas are more kind to silver than others, and fortunately this batch is nice. At home and with any crust removed, I actually rub them with table salt and water. It removes the black outside and puts a more silver color on them, and doesn't scratch them.

Here's a merc found at this beach last year. At first I thought the dime was eaten away, but I'm now thinking I actually broke that piece off when I was taking the cookie material off.

I agree with your description of the ring, a Catholic Sacred Heart Of Jesus, with the heart, cross, and thorns surrounding it. Yours appears very old too. Great find! Sub 8-)

Good looking finds testing, gold and silver in the same hunt is pretty sweet
