Had two hours, so I headed back to the Vicky large cent spot today. When I was nearing the spot (which is totally quiet and free of junk), I got a solid 52, figured it was a nickel...and then I see this- ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1495842910.849703.webp

Flip it over and YEAH BABY! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1495842966.111908.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1495843595.265714.webp

It's my first real gold ring with marks. 10k jostens, anybody have an idea on the age based on the design?

I get to the spot, and it's slow going. Might be the most Iron and trash laden place I've ever had the pleasure to detect. Broken glass and iron in every hole. I figured I was digging iron, and I guess I was, but in the hole with it was a Barber quarter. J. Cache,

Great detective work on getting an id on the ring and owner......here's hoping you can do a return and if so gets lots of pictures....:notworthy::notworthy:

Regards + HH

Bill

Congrats on the ring, barber, new permissions, and a fun story of proof of the small world we live in!

Congrats on an outstanding find.....
That would be an awesome return, she wouldn't expect that at all....
Maybe she dropped the quarter too....
Nah....

Wow, what a beauty! Congrats on the class ring and the Barber! :headbang:

Great save on the ring buddy, hope it turns out that you found the original owner as well! :occasion14:
That Barber quarter is a sweet find too!

Dave

The gal would be around 88 years old I reckon if it's a High School class ring. She could still be with us.

That barber quarter is phenomenal and so is the ring great hunt!

Excellent finds. LOVE the ring.

That's an amazing synchronicity that you spoke to the brother. I would say that returning that ring is part of your (and her's) destiny.
Lots of things had to line up perfectly in order for that to happen. I would definitely follow through on it.

Thanks again everybody. I called my friend this morning and told him the ring is in fact a 1947 class ring. I looked up the school records, and she's the only person with those initials graduating that year.

She is 88 and still living! He is going to call her and make sure she did in fact lose the ring. He was amazed when I said I'd love to return it.

I really hope it's hers and I can return it!

Great finds! I'm still looking for my first barber quarter.

You'll get some good karma from that return.
You NEVER lose by giving....

If you do get to meet this lady and return the ring,, be sure to take some pictures.
Congrats again

Well my old friend called his sister. She was absolutely shocked that the ring has been found, and said she would be thrilled to have it back!

She graduated in 1947 and moved away within a year. She described how she lost the ring, and it's pretty much where I found it nearly 70 years later.

We are going to find a way to get it returned as soon as we can. My only request was that I get a pic of her and the ring once she receives it.

Very nice save! And Good Luck on the return, Love finding those old Golds!
