Got out early this morning to beat the heat here in San Jose . Went south of San Jose for a change  . Stopped off at two schools but both were locked up :BangHead: . Then I remembered a school I had hunted back in the 90's that was close by so off I went . School was open and no games , sweet ! Only 5 minutes into the hunt and only mt 4th target I get a +18 nickel sound . At 5 inches down I saw GOLD ! Ring #80 for the year is a 14K gold wedding band :headbang: . Very small , only 2 grams but I'll take it ! After that I had three more ring finds over about 2 hours . All are junk kids ring , #81 - #83 . The one is kind of cool with skulls around it . The other nice find was my first ever old Chinese cash coin . Not sure the date , could be late 1800's or early 1900's . Any know about this one ? Total clad was $5.49 . One note about this school , I believe it has been picked over for silver and clad . I found 27 nickels and not many quarters . That's alright because they left the gold behind :laughing7: .

Nice rings again brother!! The cash coin looks like some kid left it probably had brought it out for show and tell. I found a whole string once of Japanese Yen once at a schoolyard probably was there for a show and tell also =)

Nice finds! I had a 4 ring day today. No gold but 3 silvers and a clad. Maybe it's a trend today.

Just found some info on the cash coin . It is from 1644 - 1661 , Emperor Shih Tsu . This would be my oldest coin I have ever dug

Nice haul. Gold is always good no matter what. Plus, it offsets the junk jewelry.

And that 15th century coin is just amazing. That's freakin' OLD!!

I dug a kids ring almost like the one with stars just a couple of days ago. Mine has hearts but it looks about the same.

But, a ring is still a ring.

LOL, finding a buttload of nickles tells me to pay particular attention to pulltab area signals.

So many detectorists just don't bother with pulltab/nickel type signals - to all of them a heart felt Thank You !

You got that right.

I dug a TON of pop tops and pulltabs today and later at another spot, just before dark I almost didn't dig a weak, pulltab like signal. I decided that one more wasn't gonna' kill me and out popped a nice gold earring. That saved an otherwise uneventful day and I'm still smilin'.
