Had a great metal detecting adventure yesterday! I found civil war bullets, colonial buckles and buttons but the main find was a gold ring with an eagle on it! I have not been able to find a similar ring anywhere. I believe it is a military ring since it has the eagle with what appears to be an olive branch in his mouth. What I thought were scratches on the back appears to be some sort of makers mark or symbols? If you figure it out let me know! video here

oh man that ring is the colonial shiznit!

I always enjoy your videos's. You have a nice little set up floating beside you. Nice old site too. You have rescued a lot. I am voting also.

Early Eagle,, as in colonial,,
I call them chickens.
Congrats

WOW that is a dream find right there. Cant wait to hear what the verdict is on it. Congrats!

This is one of the most stunning finds I've seen on Tnet. That is old gold and I have a feeling very very special indeed. My god that ring is just incredible. Super BANNER. Hope it goes up before morning. If ever there was an automatic BANNER that's one. Fantastic find Gig. Thanks for bringing us along and I truly hope we get some answers on that baby

Wow what a save!! Congrats on the finds esp that amazing ring!! I feel like others that ring is significant for sure! HH everyone

A once in a lifetime find on the ring. Congrats!

Holy carp!!!
I am in complete awe of that ring.
Definitely one of the best finds I've seen in a long time!

Awesome find. Especially if it is as old as that trapezoidal buckle:occasion14:

Oh My! BANNER for that OLD GOLD RING! Sorry, can't help from shouting! Great video and hunt mate. :notworthy:

Definitely a significant ring! Looks like you have a fun journey ahead to learn the history if that piece. Huge congrats!!!

The title on your thread is far too modest. We're talking about ultra-hard-to-get colonial period gold in the form of a ring no less! :blob7::occasion14::notworthy::blob7: Awesome find. NO-BRAINER BANNER VOTE. It's a privilege to cast my vote for banner on this find. I would research that find and not stop until you get some back story on such an intriguing ring.

Thanks for all the votes it made the banner! I still have not got a positive ID yet I just know it is very old and rare at this point. The journey to find its origin has begun!

Holy Toledo, banner all day! :occasion14:

What else can I add other than WOW and CONGRATS!

I think everything I might have said has already been said. But I wanted to add SOMETHING, how about the "Understated" word (WOW)? Added note; Just now I see that Mr.Digger already used "WOW", What else can I come up with?, I don't know, how about Double WOW?

Wow, amazing ring. It has the look and style to me of a 16th to 17th century gold English/European signet ring although maybe a bit less chunky than normal. I think Crusader had a very similar ring with a lion on it as a banner find!

If the Earth was a Cracker Jack box, you sir, have just found the prize.
