Gold Ring?

This was given to my son 10 or more years ago and but I just found it today. My son loved to play pirates when he was about 5 years old. My sister made him a treasure chest and people would bring him old jewelry from garage sales to put in it, he's in high school now so he was getting rid of a bunch of junk so I started going through it and found this ring. It says 96.5% Is it real?!!! I weighed it and my scale says ten grams but I don't know how accurate it is.

That would make it 23K. If it is real, it should be soft and very heavy. It is hard to say from the picture how big it is, but it looks like a chunky ring. I would think it would be over 10 grams.
