GOLD RUSH CAMP FROM AN 1860'S WATERCOLOUR

Hi All , After a few trips to the site of a large goldrush camp couple of miles from the main town this what was found. Took me 8 years to find one of these. First i posted a water colour of the area that was a painted in 1860's. The gold rush at Eaglehawk started in 1852 and gold has been mined there for 161 years. Take a hard look at the picture , many a flag from different countries and a Gold trooper in a blue uniform ? Heaps of finds and many pics to post.

Thanks for the replies , 8 years to find a gold miners camp with this many older coins , Mostly only find a mixed bag as there was some huge hard rock mines that were not to far from this location and these mined gold until the end of WW2

So that is an 1849 U.S. Half Dollar? Good Year especially for gold mining around the world! Great coins and suspender clips and good research on your part along with some wee nuggets, was this all found in one day?.............63bkpkr

FANTASTIC finds! Love the snake buckles, early coins, etc. Great site, hope you can afford a little time to cover it well.

Best Wishes,

Beautiful old coins! Gold too! Also thanks for many good site pics! Were double-headed snakes for good luck or just a popular style back in those days? HH Andi
