I went out today for a few hours in cloudy cold weather to get out of the house. The beach I went to is one of my favorites, but I rarely find gold there. This ring was way, way further out than I would usually go but it was very calm. Found about a dozen sinkers and a spoon (all different numbers) then this. 14K 9.7Gr.

Really good find!! Have you had much beach wash out of these storms?

I haven't been out every day. but the beaches themselves look untouched to me. The difference is in the water, the sand only has to shift a few inches to pay off. Over the summer at this beach there was too much sand to detect, today there was zero visibility but I was tripping over rocks. You would never know until you walk out a hundred yards. A great sign is when you dig up a oyster shells. I don't think we've had oyster beds here in over 100 years.

We're on a bay, not the ocean.
