Good and bad changes at ebay over the years

So, I will give my 2 cents on what I think are the good and bad changes at ebay over the years.

The Good
-50 Free Listings
-More Free Listing days than before
-Pay and print shipping on site
-That's about all I can think of now

The Bad
-Obviously, things sell slowly now and don't bring in the same prices as they used to back in the day. This is not ebays fault, at least not completely, but that's the way it is
-Buyers getting all the rights. As a seller, a buyer can claim an item it broken, even if it isn't, and the seller has to pay full return shipping.
-Feedback is a joke. Sellers cannot leave negative feedback.
-Inconsistencies in ebays business model. What I mean by this is that ebay will change their policies on free listings, store owners, and the number of times they offer free listing days. This makes it really hard for a business owner to change for what is happening so quickly. It throws off a business owners business model, and forces them to adapt, often in a negative cash flow way.

Well, that's all I can think of for now, let me know what you think.

Not a change eBay made but whatever government agreement or program that allows overseas members to ship stuff to the US for virtually free...

I collect ASW related stuff and found EBay to be a rich environment! My major complaint was the amount of time it took to actually get the item. I remember (many times) paying for Priority Mail just to find out that the seller ONLY went to the post office once a week - never could understand why they bothered to charge (and advertise) 2-Day Priority Mail! Anyway - happy to say most sellers now ship promptly.

I believe he's referring to "Anti-Submarine Warfare".

I've been selling on eBay since 2000, and from my viewpoint there's been
many undesirable changes made over the years. At one point there was
quite a number of knowledgeable booksellers that were involved both in
selling, and in the Booksellers forum (on ebay). I learned an awful lot from
them in the early years, and it was an education better than you could buy.

Then eBay started making all kinds of changes to the categories, while at the
same time allowing far too many fraudulent sellers who wouldn't know a
"trade paperback" from a 1st. ed. Buyers were getting screwed left and right by
those sellers, and eBay did nothing. Some of these frauds were working with
high end books ($10,000+), and when eBay again didn't do squat, the honorable
bookmen moved to honest venues and live auctions.

eBay's fees have also become quite high over the years, and now that they
also own PayPal, they're making a % on every end of the transaction.

I could go on, but no sense....

That is what I was thinking for ASW but never knew any products could be for sale.

actually paypal and ebay split a year or so ago. but it is still a total of 13% in fees.
