Started systematically searching the top of the field we have been exploring for the last couple of days. Last chance until next harvest.

I got another broken Roman Silver coin (2 in 2 days!) :'( I will try & ID later.

I found a possible Roman Silver Ring, will have to hand this one in. ;D Thats a first for me.

2 Roman bronzes (1 each)

Lead Clothes seals

Buttons etc...

Re: GOOD DAY FOR ME

Is there ever not a good day for you ??? That chocolate coin voucher is very interesting indeed.... I wonder what year that was from. If only we had things like that here in South Africa. I just love those tokens, so interesting.

God bless
Peter

Re: GOOD DAY FOR ME

Crusader,
Congrats on another great harvest. Do they grow relics in these fields you hunt? Just amazing. What are those pieces with the "SS" on them? I noticed you found some of those on your last posts.
Thanks,
MM

I find loads of them, they are local lead bag seals from the mill (used to seal the flour bags I think). The mill is no longer in use but probably not more than 50 years old.

Re: GOOD DAY FOR ME

W@W...very neat finds. I can only dream of finds like that in my neck of the woods.

Re: GOOD DAY FOR ME

You sure keep us entertained and a little jealous too, lol... You have the places to hunt that we all dream about over here in the USA. Thanks for sharing.

Re: GOOD DAY FOR ME - UPDATED WITH COIN ID

Got an ID from the museum, its rare but not unpublished like I first thought. This is what they said:

The image is one of a half siliqua struck
in Trier most likely in AD 381. The coin is listed in RIC vol 9 at p.
34, no 109. Most of the coins with a known findspot of this type were
found in Britain. One of them is in the famous Oxne Hoard. It is not
a common coin. Would it be possible to know the parish where it was
found and the weight of it? It would be usefull to list it in the
Coin Register published in the British Numismatic Journal (BNJ).

So this will be the second coin to make the BNJ :)

After researching the Hoxne Hoard, I noticed that out of nearly 15000 coins found only 1 was the same as mine. I think only 4 have been recorded, therefore mine is about the 5. Rarer than the Museum made out!
