He bit the len's 3 time's before I could get the open mouth shot...That's on my super macro,1 1/2" away...Finally gave him the ole shovel scoop into the wood's,wouldn't leave me alone!!!!

That locket could've held the photo of a loved one...GREAT find! I do think that .58 cal looks carved...it looks more like a .69 in size to me, but I know you're recovered plenty enough of them to know. LOL. Anyhow, I like the tombac button too. They look great when they're cleaned up. The ones I find always have a thick rusty-looking layer on them that even a toothbrush has difficulty with. I usually have to take a toothpick to them gently. Nice work!

Hey Civilman,
WOW... your soil is REALLY rough on copper!! That is a hammered wheat!
Nice finds. I wonder if they didn't carve that bullet down, so they could write
with it? Or, maybe he thought it's trajectory would be a bit more true with a
beveled top? At any rate, nice finds!!

That locket is a women's make-up compact.
Nice finds

Civil,
Nice button and bullet! Congrats.
What kind of snake is that, besides a p-ssed off one?
Great pictures,

Nice finds and adventure. That bullet is carved for sure .Really cool.

That is one ugly wheatie...sure hope your other coppers don't come out that bad!! Nice bullett!!

Some friend, Civil! :D

Those are some awesome finds! Maybe there had been some farming going on where you found the wheat? That fertilizer does a number on 'em here. :-\

Congrats on all those super finds! Nana :)

I agree with Buckleboy...might have held a picture. They were called daguerrotype photos. Very common in civil war days.

Fantastic finds, Civil. Man, I had to jump back when I saw the snake. ;D The idea of you teasing it that way, you know better. :D

;) RR

Cool finds civil. Maybe I can get out there with you guys next weekend. Great shots of the snake. I caught a little garder snake myself hunting last week. I thought that 3 ringer looked .69 as well on first look. Cool carved bullet too.
