So they are clearing a spot off for a sub-division half a mile from a Battlefield in Virginia... Thinking it was more of less hit hard already me and a buddy hit it today in piles of dirt they have bulldozed!

I noticed most of the piles of dirt they bulldozed were old trench lines. Right when I threw the detector on the first dirt pile within 5 seconds got a En-field Confederate bullet then started too dig more En-fields then three ringers, colt bullets, etc etc. The best find too me was this "Good Luck" decoration piece with a horse shoe and wish bone on the front with a lead back!

All together me and my buddy dug 67 bullets within 2 hours. I can only image what the MDers from the 1970s/80s got out of this site! We were only picking up all these bullets because they were way way deep where no machine could pick them up! Thanks too the excavator company and foreman for letting us be able too hit this site after they got off this evening!

Alas HSD, I missed those "good ole days" of relic hunting too!! I also often wonder if they took for granted that they routinely dug the vast quality & quantity of relics that they took home? Good finds. HH, Quindy.

One of the old timers from the 70s told me about a small regiment camp way out in the mountains of Virginia! he said he hit the camp and was only looking for buckles&plates and big readings and wouldnt even go after the bullets or buttons.. He said he dug some plates out of this camp so he told me info on where it was and when I hit it I found bunch of Calvary bullets and eagle buttons & eagle C and most of the typical stuff you dig but no plates or buckles... So guess you really cant single out a spot just because it was hit in the early days of MDing! Most of those guys left lots and lots of bullets and buttons and were only going after the big solid readings.

You guys must have dug that good luck piece at the very start of the hunt by the look of the results. Nice pile of assorted lead.
