Curious. Where is a good place around here [pm if you want] to get stones authenticated? Everytime I go into a jewelr or gold shop they all put it on a scale and offer 50%. I plea and get nowhere. Hhgl-Joe.
I have a container with my stones in it - will save for retirement
best thing to do probably is find someone that makes their own jewelry
we have a huge gem and mineral show in my area every year - so lots of guys that buy gem stones - some do their own jewelry
I can go to each and get best price - eventually
and sell to the highest
people don't realize - a lot of stones are not worth as much as they think - mark up on jewelry is high
to what the contents are actually worth or what the company pays to create it
a Fla. friends of mine says his jeweler friend pays like $50 for a teaspoon of diamond chips or the small accent diamonds
I see guys with found rings that have 100 diamonds in it and they think they hit the jack pot - when in fact
its not - unless you can get a lot on ebay or it is a tiffany or cartier other high name brand
but if its a walmart one - even if those chips test real - its prob a low $100s ring than a $1000 one
most places wont buy anything smaller than 1 carat diamond - some 1/2 carat but have to be high quality
most rings with stones I hang onto - unless ring is beat
