Was down by the river in an area that was the original power mill for the trollies in our area. Lots of junk in the ground but cool stuff can still be found. walked up on an area with more home items and pulled this out. Spiked my White's as silver and also a friends. No markings and looks like the foot off something. :treasurechest:

Could be plated copper. A big hunk of copper always comes up high on my machine.

Still worth something as copper.

Think it is silver.

It is cold to the hands and has a different sound to other metals.

You need a test kit or take it to a jeweler.

The heck with the finds - love the little MD'er! Thanks for sharing...

That's Ayla Jane, 17 months and loves her daddy. I have been lucky to have been a stay at home dad for the past year raising my child.

I'm wondering if it might be aluminum ? - I don't know how many squashed beer cans i've dug up that appeared to my detector as a
silver dollar or half dollar .

I did the ice test,
I cube on silver and it melts very fast.

also has the sulfur smell when wet and wrapped in foil.

Who knows, I got a buddy who is going to check it out for me.

awesome! i too have been lucky enough to be a stay at home dad! Congrats to you, it is truely a blessing! Nice find also, keep it up HH

It might be silver plate but definitely not solid silver. Solid silver does not pit like that. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so.

Cute future treasure hunter!

I have to know, does the cat ever reach the top of the slide?

Looks like the top to an old aluminum coffee pot.

I hate to chime in.. but it sure does look like spun aluminum to me.

Nothing about it looks silver...not even plated.....When you find Silver...You know pretty much right off the bat...Ive learned that if i ever have to ask myself...its no good

I think "bobby5" is correct. . .

Last spring I dug 3, squashed pop cans (sounded like BIG silver) in a 10-foot area, the 4th target (which sounded the same as the first 3) was a 1922 Peace silver dollar.
