White quartz?

IMG_7882.JPG

Fantastic thread!!! Very excited as I was already a member :) i'm assuming this is just a white quartz. What makes it so bizarre is I live in the mountains of western North Carolina and I have nothing but Boulder after Boulder after rock after rock. Some the size of a car. They are all dark colors. This thing stands out from a mile away and I don't know where it came from as it doesn't match anything else in the creek. Anything special about it? I have more pics if needed but I doubt it :) Thanks!!

Ps:Hard to tell but it's the size of a football.

Looks like a chunk of white quartz to me as well, probably what used to be a chunk of an intrusive quartz vein. Not sure what the setting you found that in is like but if it is in a creek the first place to start looking is upstream. Does not look to be anything special about it besides it being unique to your location.

i think it is a petrified .. sumthing. Maybe an egg lol

Sorry but that just looks like some kind of cryptocrystalline/microcrystalline quartz (chalcedony/agate/etc) and not like anything that is petrified. Still an interesting formation though.

Some sort of agate? Or no? What is it

Found this in Nevada walking along a river. No clue what it is. IMG_20180130_135203.jpg IMG_20180130_135058.jpg IMG_20180130_135111.jpg

Diamond cutting wheel for dremel cuts it but not easily.. And unfortunately that's all the info I have.

*edit*
Additional info: it breaks off very sharp could probably cut very easily but don't wanna test that out on me hehe.

I found this down hill from what was reportedly a slaughter house at one time. Is there any chance it could have been a piece of a knife sharpening stone?

Please help me with this rock. What is it and what's in it.

Found this rock under a old tree stump we pulled out.
