Got SAC'd in the Playground
Hi gang.. I hope everyone is drying out (if you've been suffering through all the rain like I have) or otherwise happy. I began my vacation a couple of days early, but due to rain all I've been able to do is
pack, watch tv and play on the computer. Till today that is. Today dawned sunny and mild, a bit windy perhaps but that's ok, the wind helped dry things out a bit. By 10:00 AM the grass was dry enough to run the lawn mower, so that little Honey-Do item got scratched off my list. Then it was off to get a hair cut, after all, got to look good on vacation right?.. oh.. and my wife got her nails done. <ahem> To the grocery for a few items to complete the afternoon cook out plans for dinner then home to begin preparing the feast. MMMMMmmmm Grilled Pork Chops! <slurp>
I digress, forgive me. After a long leisurely dinner, prepping, cooking, consuming, cleaning up. I couldn't stand it any longer, and my dear wife relented and allowed me to go play with the metal detector a bit. Why she even accompanied me! Damn! Those were some GREAT pork chops! <grin>
As the day had worn on, though dawning bright and cloudless, the clouds began moving back in to the area ahead of the new weather front moving towards us. Yeah, more rain on the way, but I was able to get out and beat the rain and get a little detecting in. I knew I wouldn't have long so I opted for a couple of schoolyard playgrounds I've not searched in a few months. I really didn't expect to find much, but the simple act of hunting was a joy in and of itself. Of course it was nice that I *DID* find a little. <grin>
At the first schoolyard I found about 80 cents, dimes, a nickle and a quarter... oh and a metal button.
That search took all of about 15 minutes, then it was on to the second of the two schools.
The second schoolyard proved to be a bit of a surprise as the first coin I found was a Sacajawea Dollar.

Cool!
Not so cool was the spent bullet I found amongst the woodchips, it's not in the picture though. I found a tiny little metal bead or button, bar shaped.

That was hard to locate in the chips let me tell you! There was the usual zipper pull, pencil tops, pull tabs and can slaw of course, and this one ink pen. I know, El Cheapo, but it still writes. <shrug>
All in all I found $2.20 in clad.. in a combined search time of maybe 35 minutes. Yeah, I might have found more except that the threatening rain quit threatening and began to fall. *sigh* Oh well, it's supposed to clear up again by morning and by tomorrow afternoon it'll be dry and back up in the 70's again. I HOPE! I've been asked by one of my wife's friends to detect her elderly neighbor's yard in search of a long lost wedding band.. of 40 years or better! <blink blink> Oooooookaaaayyyyyyy.. I'll willing to give it a look. <grin> And hey! If I find the ring it will make one old gal a very happy octogenarian.. and brownie points for me with my wife and her friend. <grin> Wish me luck!
Here's the pics of today's finds.. everything.. not much, but enough to get my detector fix for the day.

Grabbed a quick snap of my better half too... hard to catch her unawares... she thought I was checking an adjustment on the camera. <grin>

Oh.. and testing the macro focus on an empty glass of "The Real Thing"...

Happy Hunting Everyone !!!
