Hey Guys,

I found this extremely rare Mississippi I cuff button yesterday with the Minelab GPX 5000. I found it in a "beat to death hunted out" site. We have hunted this camp for over 20 years and......out pops this beautiful Confederate button.

I was there just to try and learn how to use the new GPX 5000 and obviously it did a great job. This button was found in Southern Middle Tennessee.

To answer a few PM questions:...this was my first outing with not only the GPX 5000 but a PI machine as well. My go-to relic machine is the F75 Special Edition. The 5000 really really really likes the brass. It gave such a loud solid quality signal when I hit any brass. I also found on the same day in this camp a .69 and .58 three ringer, a small watch fob, two brass rivets and a Federal Eagle I cuff and General Service vest button. And....................a lot of iron, not small nails (using the Iron Reject) but large pieces such as broken gun tools and horse shoes.

The brass signal is very distinct but still trying to learn what deep brass sounds like versus shallow iron. Any suggestions from GPX users?

Hope this helps.

:hello:
Hey Lynn!

Great to see you here my friend.
This GPX5000 is proving to be a really substantial machine. I am hearing of huge finds all over the world that all machines are missing. And what a great find this is to prove it.
Congratulations.
The GPX500 is really a brass lover like you mentioned. We will get out and study this machine more.

That's a Banner button!

You have my vote

We were in KX. this weekend and watched the game from the new Boxes. It was a good time.

OMG - I just looked that button up and didn't realize how rare it is! I think at that depth I would have missed it with my SE Pro and E-Trac ....probably why it was still there. Lots of sites up here I could use that sort of depth. Please keep us posted on more of your finds...thanks!

I do think the E-Trac is the bomb, but it did miss the Miss. I.....and not by just one hunter but several. I am going out tomorrow with the GPX 5000 again and will be looking in Confederate trenches in GA. Very laborious but the payoff could be worth it.

Good luck in that Georgian soil and keep us posted on how that beast performs! Looking forward to hearing about it!

Erik,

The trenches were too wet for the GPX-5000 today so I used the F75 LTD. I posted on "Today's Finds". Take a look.

Hi Lynn,

Sounds like your GPX-5000, E-Trac, and F75 Limited are the Holy Trinity of detectors (can I say that to someone in the bible-belt?? :dontknow: :laughing7:) - I saw ur new button man - you are on fire with those detectors!! Best, Erik

Look forward to your next outing with the GPX-5000 .... Question: if I can sneak it past the "finance committee" how soon can u get me one from when I place the order (startin' to get colder up here in Yankee territory :laughing7:)
