I bought a GPX a month or so ago. I haven't used it a whole lot but have taken it out twice in the last few days. I bought it to hunt the sites thatI have hunted quiet with my T2 just to see if I was missing anything way down deep. I took it to a site that I hunted with my T2 with the 5", 11", and 15" coil. This is a very small area of finds and I hunted this spot until There was just no signals left except for a bit of iron. First good target was a very deep copper. Then I found a couple buttons. One of them was a tombac that was easily 16" and clear as can be. After I dug some massive craters I swung the T2 in them and pulled a button out of the iron. The GPX does not like iron....thats a fact!!!!

If anybody knows what the iron pick item is I would appreciate the id.
Ok now for todays hunt and the very tiny very unexpected finds. I took the GPX to a super early site and decided to hunt the salt water shore where I believe there was a stone wharf. This machine is incredible in the salt water shore. There was no modern targets at all at this spot. Unfortunately the tide drove me out and theres lots of long reeds on the higher areas so I couldn't detect there today. I will be returning for sure. I got a couple of the smallest keepers Ive ever dug in my life. This machine will find it if its there. No matter how small. Ive never found gold of any sort detecting. Today I found my first piece and it happens to be a tiny flake of gold. Pretty cool for the first piece.

Now for the other tiny little target. I'm hoping this may be a trade bead. This spot had lots of native and colonist interaction in the 1600s. It is metal as I found it and pinpointed it as well....but I have no idea what its made of. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome guys

I don't know if that bead looks beautiful or your hands are really ugly! Lol. My guess as you know, would be a trade bead.

That gold is amazing. Considering where it came from, it was not there naturally, nor by accident. That nugget was being used for 17th C. trade. I'm so happy you're warming up to that GPX. I know that machine will produce some killer finds for many years. However, when I win the lotto, look out, I'm getting a GPZ! Lol

I hope you do my friend. I would love to have a GPZ. But that ain't happening for awhile. Kim would kill me bro. I'd have to find piles of gold if I bought that monster

Congrats on your first gold nugget find-I bet you're ready to pick up a pan and find a good creek. :goldpan: The bead is an interesting find as is the mystery item in the last pic. Is it lead? Doesn't look like a fishing weight to me-possibly some sort of counter weight?

Now you're adding gold nuggets to the already amazing things you find?! That's so cool, congrats on all those really great finds.

Great finds my friend..

Was the bead in water or on the land?

That's a pretty flake!

I wish Louisiana had gold. To my knowledge it don't.

Keep searching Joe I bet theres some rings and coins there somewhere

Great finds. The gold is surely a small nugget. I have never foun_d any gold in any form but rings or coines.

Well Tom I would love to add an early gold coin to my collection

Very nice haul from a place you have detected to where there were no signals left, the GPX will take it to the next level, or I should say a deeper level!!

Very Nice little picker/nugget!

Scrappy,

There is natural gold to be found in Maine, there have been many nice nuggets found in many of the streams in Maine not to mention fine gold, I know of at least 10 or more nuggets weighting in between 1/4 ounce and up to 1 ounce that have been found in Maine, but most of the bigger gold found is about the size of what Ahab8 has found, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he finds some other pickers there.

There's also gold to be found in the neighboring states of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Thanks AU. I finally feel like I'm figuring this machine out. It's a powerful beast for sure. Excited to keep getting better with it. That machine gets you to depths I never thought possible with a detector

Gold is gold they say it's always a welcomed find regardless of what form it comes in, but digging a piece of raw yellow from the ground is awesome! Closest I've come is getting a ring with small nuggets for a setting, so a nugget is still high on the want list of finds. Liking the little bead, looks like the real thing for sure. What is the little ships wheel-old-new-what's it made from? Great hunt Abe.

Incredible finds Abe..That new machine must be on point.. The little nugget is pretty amazing man..How cool is that to find a piece of raw gold with a machine. Can't help with the pick but looks like it took a handle. Maybe some kind of pick for mining gold;)

I bet you were stunned when you pulled up that gold nugget because I sure as heck would have been. I've found two gold rings and a gold earring but that's the extent of my gold. There's a gold vein that runs through VA but I doubt I'd find a nugget like yours. You need to get a little dredging setup and put the detecting on the back burner. There are people who sift for gold for years and have never found what you've found. Great job buddy!

Congratulations on your first gold picker with the GPX!!!!! You are now an Official "Nuggetshooter." :occasion14:

Ha thanks Terry. I won't get my hopes up but I'd love to see a few more of those come up

Gold?!?! Abe--that's incredible! Congrats to the max. -Lisa & John

Ha yup I guess so Lisa. I'm as shocked as anyone....not what I expected

How did you see those super small targets? Wow, good eyesight! Nice

I chased the gold for quite some time. I kept telling myself that wasn't it even thought it was sounding off on my pinpointed. Glad I didn't give up on it

Very nice finds man! Never found any gold since I started detecting ,let alone a gold nugget! Great job!

Thanks Aureus. No gold but you've found every old silver in your neighborhood lol. Keep up the Killer hunts man

Killer hunt Abe. I can hardly wait to see what that machine brings out of the already hunted sites.

Sure looks like an trade bead to me. We used to find them around here.

best of luck to you sir!

Thanks CT....pretty excited to get this machine figured out which started to happen this past weekend. I learned an awful lot about what I'm hearing.

So a gold pulse machine finds a gold nugget! :headbang: I bet it sounded just like the mess of .22 lead bullets I dug up there with the GPX. I like that KG copper too man.

I have a similar iron piece that I've zapped and I have another that is not processed yet... somewhere in a bucket. I think its part to a harness or farm tool handle... definitely incorporating wood. This one is hand forged and yours looks hand made as well.

Very nice Brad. This was a Mill site so I'm guessing it had something to do with that. As for the GPX I learned a lot this weekend that I think is going to help a LOT in the future. We will discuss these recent observations my friend. Think you will do well with it on the outskirts of that killer site
