Hi all. Got up at 4AM for a trip to the local resort beach. Arrived at 6AM. After feeding the young stray cat who is always hanging around the beach entrance at dawn, I hit the beach.
Results were my poorest yet. The weather was rainy all last week and school is starting back, so I'm sure the crowds were smaller than usual. That was certainly the case today- the usually crowded beach was thinly populated. I hunted until 10:30AM and found only about 3 dollars in clad. No jewelry!
Frustrated and feeling out of sorts, I gave up on the beach. However, I decided that on my way home, I would take a detour through a small city nearby and hit the parks, which I had researched online but never hunted. The first park was in a subdivision neighborhood, and consisted of a baseball field and a small tot lot and volleyball court, both of which looked seldom used. I passed on it.
A mile away, I arrived at another park with several ballfields, picnic shelter, tennis courts, and a nice tot lot that appeared to get some business.
I swear, 20 seconds after I hit the sand, I got a good dime signal.
I looked down, and saw what appeared to be a pulltab sticking out of the sand. As I bent over dejectedly to pick up what was about my 75th pulltab of the day, I thought "Hey, the Ace doesn't register pulltabs as dimes! SILVER RING!
I picked up what you see in the photos-sterling silver with a real honker of a CZ and 4 smaller sized graduated CZs Psyched!
I took my prize and returned happily to my humble home.
Persistence really pays off in this game, doesn't it? Happy hunting to you all
