Prospecting
All politics aside the trash has to go.. This has been a yearly event and it helps. Anyway there are multiple locations one can go and participate in. Anyway I will be Participating in the one hosted by NFARA (Ron Gould). The other day I ran into two prospectors and one of him unfortunately stated the truth of it. He remarked that Prospectors/miners leave more then their share of trash. Anyway I am not without fault in this. All one can do is live and learn and give back.. Anyway the more volunteers ultimately the more trash gone and better for everyone.

My brother showed me this. Should I be digging up Ant Hills?

no apologies ever necessary. It's just the last few weeks I have had this discussion multiple times with people from both sides. I could not agree with you more about the ROOT CAUSES though I suspect we may differ a bit on those as well.
Look truthfully if I thought I could just go get all the trash myself I would as even if it take six months to do or more it has to be hell of a lot easier then this!! But I have restrictions.. I have financial responsibilities family and I am sometimes lazy. And I have found when people work together more gets done then just one person.

I am all for debate and discussion. But I don't think picking up trash merits much discussion?
( figure this may be associated with one of those root problems you were speaking of..) Something so simple becoming twisted and warped the true purpose is forgotten.

Not trying to piss anyone off either...just discussing the way "I"see this promotion of cleaning up the rivers.

And what really got me going was....."Squatter Miners" The two just don't go together.

[h=1]Squatter[/h]
Definition - Noun
: a person who occupies real property without a claim of right or title
In most jurisdictions, a squatter cannot gain title to land through adverse possession because adverse possession requires possession of the property under a claim of right or color of title.
Pronunciation'skwä-t&r

[h=2]miner[/h] /ˈmaɪnə/

noun
1. a person who works in a mine

2. Also called continuous miner. a large machine for the automatic extraction of minerals, esp coal, from a mine

3. any of various insects or insect larvae that bore into and feed on plant tissues See also leaf miner

Well how did it go MM? Hope there was a lot of volunteers.

I got to Mineral Bar around 8 this morning.. Other then a few prospectors headed down Pennyweight it was quite in the morning. I did a little hike in the morning to kill some time. Just before 9 People started showing up.. Ron showed up and recruited me to help with the Windy Point Trail.. We managed to get three truck tires a car tire and 2 batteries from the hillside. The tires were miserable flipping up the hill. Ron and Walter lost one tire and we are all in agreement that it now resides next to the river.. Around 1130 we finished Windy Point and headed down to the Campgrounds.. I saw Tom, a long time hiker of Stevens and Care taker of the Iowa Hill cemetery. We walked around and did cigarette butts for a bit. About 1230 we headed to lumber yard where they had lunch prepared.. It was a good day.. I suspect around 20 Volunteers. A lot got done.. I never did sign no forms. I just skipped all that stuff. I figure I will do my best to participate in this event every year..

Good job MM. I remember 1 yr someone had packed onto my claim a weight bench, and weights. For the love of god...WHY?

Took it out pc by pc.

You rock Victor(MM).

I look up to you and your work..

heavy pans my friend.

Send pic's to the Governor and tell him to open dredging as we are stewards of the land and let me know the response. Hate to say it but I wouldn't hold my breath. I understand that you do care but as far as anyone else especially the greenies and liberals you might as well beat your head against a wall.

Hey MM! Thanks for posting this. I've done beach and coast and creek clean ups before, just never realized (although it makes sense) that rivers in the state would get cleaned too. Kudos on your work and your results, a nice sized trash pile that now is living in a landfill and not our water!

FWIW, I always pack some plastic bags when going out and pick up trash wherever I find it. I figure making a little difference every time is worth some of my time. To give back to places that have given me so much joy with their natural beauty.

I don't prospect for gold, but why would it matter if you are picking up thrash along the river, These men should be honored on Television for doing this cleanup and we need more and more people like them. I clean up around my house where the road goes by, and what never fails to amaze me is why do people throw out a beer or soda can on my front property footage?? Maybe they are pissed at me but I don't know but a handful of people that live in my town and I have been living here for 35 years. I never threw anything out my car window and that includes you smokers, keep the dam cigarettes in your ash tray.

I do too. Collect the trash on the walk in and when I first get to my site. That way I don't have to look at it and if a muggle asks what I'm doing, I can show 'em the trash collection. Usually goes a ways toward easing their mind :)
