Lake still frozen and campgrounds won't open til Memorial Day. Quite a few ice fishermen out today. You can see some on the edge of the lake to the right of center, looking like little ants.

Nice photo, what kind of fish are in that lake? trout?

Trout is about all you can catch in this area, Seger. Green Mt. has brown, cutthroat, lake, rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. I never get real technical about it, I just go out fishing for bass and catch trout!

Thanks Stoney56. I had never been or lived anywhere much but the Southern Plains since I was born there. I got deported here 5 years ago and I had seen the place in books and on the TV, but the real thing was almost beyond my comprehension. Still, country that can kill you real quick and 80 degree summers, can't beat it.

Nice pic! I used to ice fish when I was a kid back in Wisconsin and New York but, since I moved to California many years ago, haven't gone anymore. Kinda miss it, kinda don't. Can get pretty cold out there on the ice.
