Just getting into this new hobby and looking forward to learning and sharing whatever I can!
I grew up in Richmond, VA. Recently moved a few miles south to the Bermuda Hundred area and found myself surrounded by Civil War history.
Metal detecting is something I've always been interested in, so after a while of digging through archives learning about the local history, and watching a few episodes of Curse of Oak Island :laughing7: I finally decided to pull the trigger and get into the hobby.

people really have to watch that expression, pull the trigger ! i had an old lady call the cops on me carrying my metal detector down the street. when the cops came they said the old lady thought i was carrying a rifle. so if the cops show up at your house in 5 minutes dont be surprised ! welcome from nomadsland.

Late last fall, I was swinging my AT Pro in a cornfield and a little old lady who was walking her dog asked me in a rather agressive tone whether I was "deer hunting". Fortunately, she caught me in a rare good mood, (probably cause I was MDing) so I didn't say something like "Yeah lady, I'm hunting the ones that have been dead and buried" or something like that. Instead, I tromped all the way to the road (not that far, really, but I'm very lazy so it felt like far) and showed her some square nails and an ox shoe and showed her my machine. Looking back, I'm glad I did. No reason to tarnish the MD image.
