Hello.
No, I'm not experienced, I'm just learning.
I try to do according to historical analogues.
I tried to make the famous Khazar helmet.
I don’t do grinding helmets.
doing rust and
burning.
So objects look more authentic.

Roman helmet.
According to one version.
masks on Roman helmets appeared from gladiators.
In fact, many nationalities and cultures
used anthropomorphic masks.
As for the element of intimidation of the enemy, protection of litz,
and incognito conservation.
There are historical analogues of helmets where used
not one but two or more masks.
working with a mask is the most difficult long and difficult.
But it is also the most interesting.
When with a flat sheet of iron, a face is obtained.

What an amazing thread that I'm seeing for the first time. Extraordinary finds! Uncovering just one of those early axes would be a find of a lifetime for me. Thanks so much for sharing all of your finds with us. Also, your metalworking is that of a true craftsman.

I too am just finding this post. Thank you for an extraordinary look at your culture, history, artifacts, and beautiful surroundings!
As someone said earlier you are an excellent guide (and teacher, I will add) Now it is my turn to ask for patience for my translation and hope it makes sense.
(Thank you Google)

Hello, friends.
Reading about Rome and the protective armor of the Roman Empire.
I noticed that the armor of Loric sigmentath,
has no historical counterparts in the future.
Having studied the diagrams and pictures.
I decided to try to assemble such an armor.
armor made of steel 1.5 millimeters.
Brass fittings.
In the future, if I ever do more Lorica,
I will make accessories from steel. brass plated.
Because these fittings are not reliable.
In the original Loriki, the fittings were cast in bronze.
Well, what did I get here in the photo.
the weight of the armor turned out to be 9 kilograms 200 grams
I would be glad to hear your opinion.the armor is disassembled into four parts, like the originals of Lorica
With respect.

More Friends.
I did the Roman Pugio.
The original pugio has a hilt and scabbard, a real work of art.
Multi-layered ornament, embossed decorations.
But I decided to make a simple, primitive Pugio type.
For training so to speak.
The scabbard and handle are coated with special oil.
It protects the wood and is non-toxic.
It is not difficult to make it.
Pine resin, natural wax and flax oil.
This compound has been used since ancient times to process wood-based dishes.
P.S.U we are now very hot and I leave in search of rare.
That's why I started metal processing.

You have a great talent that for sure.:notworthy:
The recoveries from the dirt are under rated by so few even seeing them in the continuing thread. Many of them should of been along the banner as they're stunning recoveries.:occasion14:

Hello, friends.
I haven't shown anything for a long time.
Search time is very short.
But there are interesting findings.
Which I would like to share with you.

But there were also unnecessary finds.
Who remained in the forest to live out their days.
Once it was a formidable and famous Mauser carbine K-98
And this is what was left of him after many years.

From interesting things that day I got
Badge for third degree injury.

In the places of those battles
barbed wire still lies.
As a reminder.

I just read all 11 pages in this thread. Why haven't I seen it before? You talk about 17th and 18th century finds like we over here, talk about 20th century finds. Good providence on your hunts and keep posting pictures, I thoroughly enjoy them!
