Hello. I've always been interested in rocks and minerals since I was a kid.
Recently I went for a walk on a bank of a local river in Pennsylvania where, when the river gets high, a lot of things wash up on shore. I found some rocks (?) and I can't identify them. Maybe you can help?
I hope the picture is clear enough.
My thoughts:
1. idk
2. bone?
3. ?
4. coal?
5. petrified or burned wood?

Sorry the photo is under a light that doesn't provide enough lighting to show off the items clearly.
Go outside or do a picture in natural lighting to brighten them up a tad.
Then the readership will see the color/details better.

Every state has a department of mines and geology (it may not have that precise name) and they are a great source of reliable, low-cost information. More folks should take advantage of what they have readily available.
