it has 2 smoothed grooves on each side, and fits in my hand very naturall, just not sure because I found this in an unturned fields with the rough side sticking up. the grooves on the sides make me question it. Thanks for the help

I agree with Gator, it looks like a ''hammer stone''. It may have also been used as one of those ''Nutting stones'', if I am correct.

very nice hammer. look for broken rocks in the field that should be the processing spot you should find points there.
