It was alot different and learned a few things. I need a scoop for one if'n I'm gonna be water dectecting-found that out. Also perhaps it was just the area I was in, but had to turn the sensitivity way down. Now mine cannot be fully submersed so it was a bit of a balancing act. I had to laugh at myself but had some fun and stayed cool. Able to pull out 16 cents in clad and a real unique oil lamp burner from 1800s. Took a bit of research but found that it was manufactured by Bristol Brass & Clock Company out of Conn. You can see on the thumb wheel that there are three dates of patents; 1870, 71, 72. A newer improved version was patented in 1886, so I am assuming that this piece falls between 1872 and 1886. Could be wrong, and according to wife usually am

Cool find, I would rather be in the water then land.
There are not as many people that hunt the water.
I have hit the water with the Explorer and found like you did that you have to change the settings on it to make it work right.
I was always scared I would drop it in the water. Lol
A scoop is almost a must in the water.
Welcome to the Water.
Happy Hunting

Nice and interesting find....maybe somebody had it on their boat to fish or see at night back then. Good Find. :occasion14:

I like when they have dates. Found many of them, but never one while water hunting. Well done!

Lamp looks like one my dad had in his collection. His was 1890.
