I put this in the what forum and only got 1 return as it being possible modern. If it is Id like to know so I can toss it. Its flat on both ends and is made from lead. Found in N GA, USA Thanks

IMO.
It looks like a Post Civil War Cast Pistol Bullet.
BUT
You never know , Please don;t toss ...Please Recycle.

That's a modern bullet. Appears to have been fired, hit head on after losing most of it's velocity, so it appears blunt on the end.
 

Looks like a wad cutter.

There are a lot of small differences, but it appears to be what you have.

We used to shoot the crap load out of these in a .38. Cheap, easy to reload, cuts a nice clean hole in the paper.
