tis strong magnetic pull...
a small metallic circular lip is barely visible on raised side... about size of dime...
and weighs 38.8 grams.
was in an area that has swim area close to shore and boats do come in very close there.

It's a guard on a pirates cutlass, which explains why the pirate only had one leg and one eye, and a hook for one hand. Wasn't a very good sword fighter, need a larger guard on his cutlass, which caused him to loose over and over, at least three times.
