I shouldn’t have to ask but… Back story?
A chill wind blew across the plains on that bleak, January morning. Even that couldn't remove the stench of fear and desperation from my tired, aching body. It had been a long night and it took every bit of my strength and most of my ammo to keep the hordes of starving, desperate people from overrunning our encampment and stealing our dwindling resources.

From behind, I heard a twig snap. I drew my Smith & Wesson model 39 reflexively as I spun around to determine the source of the sound. When I turned, I immediately froze as I locked eyes with it. A huge, fearsom..

Oh. I guess you want the OP's back story. Never mind.

Get a precise diameter with some calipers, we could include or exclude it as possible being a projectile of some sort if we had that measurement.

As my Dad used to say, "Always leave 'em wanting more." But he had 9 kids and he was referring to dinner.
I had an epiphany a while back trying to get the grandkids to eat their dinner. I told my wife if you want all 4 of them to eat, only cook enough for 3. Problem solved 👍🏻
