So Friday of last week my epic silver streak came to an end. I have CRH every weekday and most Saturdays since April 15. From that date until August 5, I had found at least 1 silver coin every day. But Friday, I was skunked, and it wasn't for lack of effort (4 boxes of halves and $705 in CWR Dimes). I am convinced that my streak ended because I jinxed myself by posting that I had never been skunked.
However, Saturday (which happened to be my birthday) started a new streak of finding silver. I had a tag sale Saturday morning and a customer gave me a silver quarter while buying a 1995 proof half dollar that I found in a roll that i was charging 75 cents for. Today I took my students on a field trip to the Boston Science Museum and on the way home, I got a 1943 P War Nickel in change from the Mass Pike toll booth, which provided a nice teachable moment for my students. After getting home, I stopped at my bank to pick up my 2 boxes of halves and my favorite teller had saved me a 1957 quarter. The halves were skunks, but I'm still happy with a war nickel and silver quarter for not putting in too much work.
