are the edges of 1965-1970 halves silver like the pre 1965 or do they have a clad edge like the new halves

You can tell the difference when they are in a roll with others. They look more silver than clad. Ron

most are more like the 90's , some are more like clad........But most are a different color/feel if you look quickly @ the faces there is a difference. HH Gayle

I'd describe them as somewhere between the 90 percent'ers and clad. To me they look like clad, but not as defined, so I have to look closely.

You can generally spot them with an edge search but there have been a few that I would have missed if I hadn't checked the date.

They're GRAY darker than silver and look nothing like copper

ok thsnk you i havent tried this new sport but im going to give it a try what the hay ive got nuthin to loose but my gas money which is alot just wanted to know if the odds were in my favor because most banks check the edges to sort the silver so if they look like clads from the edge id say the chances are much higher for success

Sound is a dead give-away. Good luck.
