Sorry, but it is a natural weathered rock, not an artifact, there is no signs of any work by man on it.

There is hard to pick up with camera thumb rest edge palm rest edge and a few spots along cutting edge I'm using 30x loupe I need a zoom camera

I have to agree with the others. Both this stone and the other you posted as a Tool are natural stones and show no evidence of ever being altered by man. You don't need a 30x loupe to see the pecking, grinding, and polishing of a Stone Tool. Contrary to popular belief they did not put "thumb holds" or "finger holds" on Celts or Axes. These were hafted in a wooden shaft and not hand held.

I just took these pictures the other night of most of my best Stone Tools so please study these pictures so you can see what true Axes, Celts, Pestles, and other Stone Tools look like.

Hope this helps and welcome aboard.

Damn at the axes! Killin' me, Grim!

Natural rock no more pics needed

i think you are confusing artifacts made by Homo erectus or homo habilis with Native American tools....but even they would be better formed and more obvious.

Wow nice stuff the hand axe I posted is paleo I found two axes and a hammer stone I same area the other axe and hammer stone I gave to pa museum with gps for their paleo studies not far from my find two fluted points found one whole other just base that's why I went to that area to hunt i also found a bision tooth and another tooth unidenified

Hhaysr, I've seen some of your offerings on another forum. If you recall, the members there informed you that they were not artifacts. They were rocks. You won't need a 40x loupe to determine that. Regardless of which forum on which you show folks rocks, the experienced eyes on all the artifact forums are going to tell you the same thing. They are rocks, not artifacts. Best bet is to let down your guard and realize you are mistaken. There are experienced eyes on all the forums who are always happy to assist people to understand what they have. Just accept the fact that the people here on TNet, as elsewhere in the forum universe, really do know better then you do. Accept their judgement. They are being honest with you. You are showing them rocks, not artifacts.

Not knocking you personally, but why is it that every time someone posts something like this and we all to a man say it is natural, the OP always comes back with the "it's Paleo and much older that what we've seen"? What's funny is if you Google "Paleo Axe" you get pictures and links to people just like yourself showing rocks with no alteration as being Paleo Tools. But if you Google Paleo Tool Kits you get exactly what has been recovered and documented on dig sites and excavations and you see zero stones like yours. Your stone has no work on it and is 100% natural.

So, the way I see it you have a couple of options. You can believe everyone from this site, and evidently from another one as well, that we are being truthful and trying to educate you on Stone Tools and how they are manufactured. Or you can continue to post them on every artifact forum you can find until you find that one person who will agree with you. He may be the only one you'll ever find that will agree with you, but you will be content with his answer and ignore the other hundreds who have told you otherwise.

Good day and happy hunting.

I know that there are some hand axes out there, but just try this . Make a hand axe and chop a limb of a tree into and you will see why they didn't go over to well. They may have been used for a one time butcher tool, but what you are showing is not one. Sorry!!!!!!

On a separate note , grim that's a heck of a hard stone collection.... You find all them ?

Thank you, but no I didn't. Most all of the Celts, three of the Axes, and two of the Pestles are personal finds. The rest were purchases. I have never paid more the $45 for any Axe I have bought. They are usually small, but still very nice examples. I actually got 3 Full Grooved Axes and one 3/4 Grooved Maul in a "junk box" at an auction in Marion county Ohio for $27.50. I Guess I was the only one that saw them in the bottom of the box. lol
