I just dont think it is unless someone was hammering on the top and bent it. I never saw a blade with a bend on top, and I had quite a collection. Also looks too thick. The older blades didnt need a hole, they were just wedged in. It may be an ancient homeade one, I guess.

Good pic Mojjax. I have never seen an iron (blade) like that and I sold a ton of antique planes. I dont think it has a hole in it though, and its a bit thick, but your pic looks convincing. Mitre blades also have a very narrow width. There is no hole in that blade. The screw tightens up to it.

Its possible to be a crude homeade iron of some sort, I guess.

I may be wrong but I googled Mathieson plane. It appears they are very rare miniatures. The blades are thick, often unstamped and they have a curved top on the mitre blades but no hole as shown by this pic. I dont know, it may be a crude blade iron. Maybe someone cut a hole in it to adapt the mitre blade to a more modern plane. The hole looks crude. http://www.toolbazaar.co.uk/gallery/tbgallery.htm

I think it's the blade, but maybe older model/maker. This blade also has a cut out at top. Could that have been related to the attachment method combined with the hole?

As far as I know the very old wood planes used a wooden or steel wedge, no hole in the blade. This thick piece would make a very good wedge and people used what they had. Its been a few years since I sold them and I havent seen everything ever made. I dont understand the hole. I dont know what reason for the cut out on top. Only the more modern blades utilized a slotted hole as far as I know. The small hole wouldnt do much good in the long run because as the blade wore down and was sharpened, it needed to be adjusted. It does look a little oval in shape but more like a homeade hole, not factory made.
