Harness part?

We found this at a dump recently and aren't sure what it is. It is wooden inside. We guessed it was part of a yoke or harness? Thanks for any help.

It is indeed a part of harness. You have one of two pieces of a hame which attached to a horse collar. 2dgs

A much older version of the one shown on this horse.. Thats me with my hand out, back to camera. giving a tour of my home town a few weeks ago.

I may be wrong but I think that type was made up into the 1950's.. Used to see them all over the farms down here before the tractors invaded.
