Now this is a CLAD post.

Only took 16 years to get this much. :D All going to AeroMike toward the purchase of my new 1266-XB detector.

Average of 150 CLAD coins per year (mainly due to "salting the jar" for repairs as my machine neared its 15th birthday). This year, I've taken a minimalist approach to CLAD--to see if I can find more oldies than CLAD. (I'm losing the fight. ::) )

Well over 2,500 coins pictured below. Enjoy!

Dude.. That pile of coin looks an awful lot like my average for..oh.. say three months or so.. of three or four short hunts a month. <grin> But then, I'm *NOT* taking a "minimalist" approach.. I'm LOOKING for clad, and anything else I can detect of course. <grin> Hey.. all clad is "found money" .. money in the bank so to speak. I save all mine and cash it in for vacation money.. you know "MAD MONEY". I've never understood that term though.. I mean.. how can money be angry? Sad, sure.. just look at the lowly memorial pennies that are dissolving away in the dirt.. but "Mad" ?? I don't get it.. <laughing>
Well here's hoping that you Slooooooowwwwww down on the finding of the clad, and start finding more OLDER coins. If you like, you can just send all that useless clad my way.. I'll just, uh.. add it to the vacation fund... and see if it gets angry..er.. "mad" too. <laughing>

Happy Hunting my friend!

Hat's off to you, Mr. CladHunter, Sir.

I am Always out for the oldest coins and the CW relics. It's just the way I'm wired. I could spend my day draining my batteries out digging zinc pennies in the heat, or I could be in the air-conditioned library making notes or in the musty courthouse basement looking at the earliest property deeds. I think about the next Banner Find with each waking moment--and I have a hunch I'm not as likely to find it in a tot lot.

Regards,

Buckles

Buckles:

I think you hit the square nail on the head! Research! Research! Research! Like you BB, the reason we dig so little clad is because there is very little clad to be found in the remote areas we hunt. If it was there, I am sure we would dig it. I, personally, would much rather be in a spot where there is potentially ONE old copper coin, than a spot which I know will give up dozens of modern coins! Like Don, I am only a short drive to the ocean beaches where people find jewelry and rings worth hundreds of dollars. My wife is BEGGING me to detect there! But I am just not into that type of detecting. (And I dont like wearing beach sandles with black socks!!! ;D )

maybe "mad money" as in craaaazzzzy... maybe you will go crazy with it. :tard: thats alot of coinage, bb. :) congrats.

Very awesome job with the clad!!! Looks like you have gotten more clad quarters, dimes, and nickels then anything else! In Washington State we seem to be finding more pennies around here.

Ehhhhh.....

Is your wife proud of the weight you have lost?

You mean "girlfriend." She says I look hot when I'm detecting.

clad adds -- I like to do the metal upgrade method with clad --take clad and go to the nearby coin store buy coins of the type you will not be able to find in the ground in good shape normally --(like indain head cents --vnickles barber dime quaters and halves and such--- I to do type sets --I just covert clad into old silver and good coins in good shape and so on till I fill a book then start the next one --- also it comes in handy for battery money , gas money , lotto tickets -- you name it yes at times I actually do go for a quick little clad hunt --but mostly it a side by product

Gas Money??? I only find enough clad to get me to the corner!

Im thinking about becoming strictly a clad hunter. I need the extra money thats for damn sure and instead of getting a part time job above my regular 65 hour a week job I will just hunt clad instead of being a greeter at Wal Mart!
