Found this in King Georges, Virginia ...

4 hours of hunting about 15 shotgun shells, piles of other junk and this.... 1890s hat pin or maybe older It was found near a church that was built in the 1760s..

[h=1]1897 The Imperial Coat of Arms and Empire's Eagle of the German Empire[/h]I figured that it looked German, but this is as close as I could come. Perhaps it was a German Lutheran Church, and your find has something to do with religious paraphernalia. Sorry I can't be of more help, but perhaps it gives you an idea of a place to start looking.
