Stopped by a place that’s really hit or miss and i’ve never seen jewelry at before. I’m glad I did. Quite the haul of jewelry treasures. First, a custom platinum brooch - I thought it was silver and was confused by the test result at first. Then several nice 14k pieces (butterfly w rubies, circle pin which i’ll prob scrap, enamel butterfly stick pin, beaded amber onyx garnet & malachite necklace). The pearl earrings are Honora. The sterling vermeil butterfly is Alice Caviness. Nice Navajo ring and an antique sterling rose quartz and shell necklace. Final piece is those funky earrings by Alexis Bittar. The manager told me that they are doing jewelry now every week. Super psyched because this place is only about 10 mins from my regular spot so I will go more often now that they are putting out jewelry. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533675833.657594.jpg

Awesome finds. Congrats

Oh happy day!!!

So brooch is gold, not platinum. Just got back from the batch refiner (we use NTR/Elemental). It was 66.8% gold. Truly strange. In case this helps anybody in the future, Here are some more pics of it in premelt condition: ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533700918.557838.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533700934.392917.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1533700947.703594.jpg

Congratualtions on the nice purchases! :icon_thumleft:

66.8% is goofy! Nice haul, i'm sure you got it all for a song. :D

Love to know your cost vs payment. You obviously know your jewelry! Do you do a scratch test? I feel like the thrift store check for numbers on the back

These places price stuff dirt cheap. They do it by the item so $1.00 for brooches, $2.00 rings etc. sometimes they know they have a good piece but even then, say it’s a 14k ring - they’ll price it at $25. I really only buy when it’s a $1-$5.

Yeah I really only do touchstone / scratch testing. I no longer have access to the fancy testers. But the spot refiner generally gives me an assay report in an hour or less.

Thanks! I live in an area of more antique stores than thrift. At the antique stores it all gold to them.
