It's remote control, so you can just have it follow you around, really helps keep my pockets clean!

That's cool. Can you list several different stores and a price break down. Also could you look it up on consumer reports for me and post the findings. I would like to buy one of those. I noticed it matches the shovel color. So that will work out well.

I think Minelab makes one that goes for around 25,000$ It has a lot of extra features which I will never fully understand, and an optional large size dump bed. I'll see if I can track down a dealer with one in stock.

Also for digging tools, when you are in a park or a nice lawn you may want to consider the "Drip Cabbage American Dumper" Signature Series excavating tool. (As seen on Spike TV)

Someone should take a stab at #4. Remember he wants to find both coins and relics. We all know coins are found along
sidewalks. But relics, that's another subject. A relic is something thrown away a long time ago but is now in favor. I think
the best place for relics is around very old residences, especially outside an open window.

Also he wants to find not only gold but silver too. We don't just find them both together much. We try hard to find both but
like oil and water they don't mix well. Like if you dig a sterling ring you won't automatically find a gold ring too. And learn
this as well, silver gives a louder signal than gold because it is more conductive. But a big man's gold ring should sound off
well, especially if it is surrounded by pull tabs.

Hope this helps and remember we all started just like you and learned the language of detector signals the hard way by digging
blisters on our hands. That was before gloves were thought of. Oh, a sturdy detector bag is handy for carrying knives, phones,
screwdivers and batteries.

No seriously, it uses a shaped charge to cut a very precise plug. And it makes
"finding" caches under concrete slabs much easier

Well ok then.

All i can say here is thanks guys............... I have learned more from this discussion here than i learned in 35 years of detecting........... NOW i am going out and try all these new things i have learned in the morning..................

OH yes i forgot i have to get to that there detecting store................... And see if they have all them detecting tools you were talking about........ I liked that colored shovel and dump truck.........

I am new to this hobby and I do have some questions I could really use some help with:
1. How do you keep salt water out of your beer when you are in waist deep water? I tried a floating cooler but it keeps floating away.
2. I'm allergic to sand. What shoes do you wear to keep sand out?
3. I recently bought a Tessoro Sand Shark and most of my finds are rusty nails. Can anybody tell me how to screen out iron?
4. I am pretty lousy at finding gold. My new plan is to follow somebody with an excal or mine lab around and dig where his beeps. What do you think?
5. Lastly, small children keep asking me questions. Does anybody know how I can get a universal restraining order against curious kids? We need to get these kids off the beaches and into prisons.
Thanks to all who reply. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Man this metal detecting ain't easy so many questions so much to learn. I wish I could help you. I am still trying to figure out the shovel thing.

attempted recovery, I think you misunderstood ticm's attempt at humor, just feel lucky I didn't write it :laughing9:

Then again ticm does have a point. You can just look at this first page with every other post asking what detector should I get :dontknow: Had the OP's taken time to read those posts they may have already found their answer :laughing7: Besides, what makes you think that anyone making a comment will change their opinion on another post. :icon_scratch:

I think it might be best for everyone who replies, wait a few additional posts and then recant your first choice and offer a second, then a third choice, with each being better :laughing7:

yea i see his attempt at humor, i just don't think he is funny, More sad in my opinion.

Attempted recovery,

I don't think it is fair to call it an "attempt at humor" or "sad." My wife does not like Family Guy so she doesn't watch it with me, but it is still humor. There is definitely wit and intellect associated with his posts. I'm not the defender of TICM; however, perhaps you could be more accepting of other his first amendment rights. You have just as much right to voice your dissent at him, I won't disagree with that. Like the painting or not, the written word still carries art when crafted skillfully.

Sincerely,
Crispin

crispin,

I get the "jist" of your post, but the bottom line is that this guy, was trying to talk down to or disrespect people that are new to the metal detecting hobby because they were asking question he was bored with looking at and he was wrong, "and so are you if you take that stance". This has nothing to do with first amendment rights, It has to do with being a quality human being.

Ugh-get over it. He was joking. It is a hilarious thread. I understand how it could be taken as being mean, but anyone who can't find the answer to their question that has been asked and answered many times, can't find this thread to take offense at it..... : )

spartacus,

I most certainly do not feel lucky that "you did not write it" "as you say" I have no regard for you. I do not know who you are and i do not care. and as far as ticm, i said on another post that i think i understand his attempt at humor. i just don't think he is funny, just sad. and with that said i hope this topic closes.

Time to close this thread..........
