friend of mine has one from 1976 with a hole in it and has it on his key ring. it is worn like that too
 
I've had clad halves worn so smooth, you couldn't tell the date. But, they are not common. They are scarcer than Franklins when searching.

Some people use them as a reminder of the year they quit drinking, etc. and when they need a little reminder, they'll reach in their pocket and rub on them.
 
Hav'nt stopped drinking and still reaching in my pocket and rubbing on it ::)
