I spend a lot of time in the desert. This is the second guzzler that I've found. It was built by the AZ Fish And Game to provide water for deer, antelope, etc.. The concrete slab funnels water to the catchment pond seen. The fence built around it allows game to go through but cattle are unable to figure it out. I cannot find my pic of it but this is what it looks like on Google Earth. It is located at 32 39 45N 112 19 50W. This is the area I found the obsidian reef. ╦╦C

thats pretty cool TerryC. what are the pools dimensions?
The pool is the rectangular area on the pointy end of the slab. Total dementions of the pond is about 12 feet by 6 feet with half covered to the sun.Half of the pond is covered to slow evaporation. There is a plaque at the pool commemorating the guzzler to a fellow dedicated to the preservation of the local bighorn sheep, I believe. If you can find it on Google Earth, I camped .28 mile west of it to abide by the 1/4 mile ban on camps around it. The reef is visible on Google Earth about .25 mile west of it as a long dark area. ╦╦C

Neat!!! I wonder how long the water lasts in it???

Here is another guzzler in the same general area.

Lots of guzzlers in southern Idaho, Terry. They even have them up in the mountains. Most can be seen from Google Earth, too.

I used to work with some " guzzlers"! Seriously, that is a nice thing to do for wildlife.
