So, I was sitting there, a blizzard on the way, knowing I'm about to be house bound for who knows how long.
But, I was getting the itch. The lil voice was saying come to the mansion! Lately, when the voice speaks,
I've been listening, (it's part of my new technique. :) ). But, I knew the ground was probably frozen, it was only
about 27 degrees! What did I do? I went, of course. :dontknow:

Here's what I found:

2016 (99).webp
2016 (100).webp
2016 (103).webp

Well, I don't mind tellin' ya, after an hour & a half, I was pooped!
Carving ice plugs is just too hard for me!!

So, as I usually do, I asked the Lord that if I didn't already have
my "exit" find in my pouch, I was ready for it. My next hit was this lil button:

2016 (101).webp
2016 (102).webp

I said, that's just fine, Lord! I'm officially OTWBTTC. (HE knows that's what I meant)

On the way there I get this screaming surface hit! I pass it up.
Then, circled back. :)

I dug, and finally! After about ten minutes located this majorly rusted old
roofing tack in the dirt! I fill in the hole and started to move on, saying, "A brass tack!!! !@$$^&^*"

That shows how tired I was, for, as anyone knows, a "brass" tack doesn't rust!!!
Then, I heard the voice again, it said, "That tack didn't cause all the loud noise !"

I said, that's right!!! A tack wouldn't scream at me like that! I circled again and dug some more.

2016 (111).webp
There's another reason not to dig when tired.
My holes get messier and messier! (blush)

2016 (112).webp

But, anyhoo, that was what I was called to find here at the mansion on this day. :)

2016 (104).webp
Fishy's just playing with a zincoln.

2016 (105).webp
Why is Blingie staring at this oblong black
thingamajig?

2016 (106).webp
Probably because the other side used to have shiny-shiny! :)

2016 (107).webp2016 (108).webp
Here's what I started with,

2016 (109).webp2016 (110).webp
and after the bath and some cleanup.

Now....I think I can finally hunker down and hibernate for a while. ;)

Thanks for peeking folks!
Stay warm & safe!

Congrats on pulling that old Canadian cent. Wow, the detecting Gods are on your side Whadi.

I live in Canada and I've never found a Vicky large cent, nice job!

Remember that Christmastime Honorable Mention? ;)

That should take care of detecting fever for a while! Good thing too, it maybe a while till the white stuff melts.

Nicely done a last hunt before the storm! Maybe a layer of snow will thaw the ground some .
You did an awesome clean up job on the Canadian one cent!

People still drop stuff in the snow....wonder how your new way of detecting works in snow? Dress warm if You go out there!

Guess Blingie is going to take a long nap.

Nothing wrong with that WIF!
Now about that voice on your head ....or the one in your gut... one of them's right!

Your story telling is improving with your new-found technique.

Way to see it through all the way to the buzzer! Now go get some sleep.

Great find! you sound like me, I go out when its hot, cold, early, and late gotta say it sucks being couped up cause of winter, I sent my AT PRO In for tune up. I get my fix through other peoples finds thanks for posting

Heck of a coin I've always liked those old Canadian large cents, that's one way to close out the season until winter releases it's ugly grasp on us!

Great finds!

Way to go Whadi. Always listen to the voice when it speaks. Thats a great Canadian Large Cent.

Persistence pays off. Way to hang in there and brave the cold temps:thumbsup:. Nice reward for the effort. Congrats!

Great hunt despite the elements, Whadi! Very nice old Canadian too. Wish me luck as I am going ice-breaking today also. I can't take anymore house-bound BS! Sub 8-)

I really have no clue what that piece is, the metal is crumbling, non-magnetic except the very tip. Maybe some sort of an old hinge type thingy?
It's not very wide. Like maybe the size of an arrow tip. But, it really doesn't look like one. I have no clue. :dontknow:

Thanks for all the responses folks! You guys must REALLY be bored!!! LOL

Actually, I am quite happy about that Large Cent. A first for me too, and in such good shape!!!

The button that says GILT on the back is interesting too. Any of you button experts recognize the
styling of the way it was stamped? Different sort of design, that, as far as I can tell.

Thanks again!

Could your mystery piece be an umbrella tip? It looks rounded to me....but that may Just be my phone, pics are not good on it. It probably has 1 pixel! Lol!

Oh my yes. It could very well be! I sure can't say it ain't. It seems that the tip might be a corroded screw. This thing was pretty deep down.
