i have tried 2 diff set of headphones on the G2 and i get the same results. my headphones will only work if i turn or push in and out on the jack end of the headphones , seems it has to be just right for the phones to work and it usuallyonly works for a few minutes at a time or when i put the detector down and pick it back up-then its not working again(maybe a short?) i have tried all external troubleshooting but have not opened up the machine. does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this prob. if not i guess i will send it off to get repaired. thanks.

i have no problems with ether headphone jack Killer Bs 1/4" and colby 130 1/8" so maybe there is a problem with your G2 call and talk with them they can help,,,maybe Woof, Dave Johnson will see this and chime in.

Have you tried contact cleaner inside the jack??? That would be my first option. If that doesn't solve the problem than you would probably have to open the detector, If it's under warranty don't do it, if it doesn't have warranty and you think you can do it than open it up and make a visual check on what can be causing the problem... a bad cable or if the jack it'self has something broken. It's an easy fix for sure.
But try the contact cleaner first.

Good post!

I had a buddy that had a piece of grass or something down inside the jack. We turned it to the side and blew it out with air. Saw a puff of something blow out and now it works great. If you try this do it before the tuner cleaner.

Ear phone problem

Make sure your screws are tight. My Omega 8000 had the same problem. I tightened the screws ( the one near the Earphone jack was the the most loose) and it worked!!

I'm having a similar problem. My earphones work then, will only work through the right side earphone. I have used 3 different sets of headphones including Sun Ray Pro's, all have same issue. I will try tightening the screws and contact cleaner before sending in for repair.

So far my cheapo cal rads have been working great!

Found the head unit was loose. Pulled back the foam (from the top) and tightened. Problem seems to be solved.
