heel plate

I found this heel plate this past week end. Some of the leather and one nail was attached when it was dug.
The area I found it in dates back to the early 1800's. Does anyone have an idea of the age of this heel plate?

I have no idea on the age of the heel plate, but it's interesting how long leather lasts underground. I have dug up parts of leather shoes from the late 1800's. Nice find.
