Hello all tnetters, I present my first fibula to you.

This morning I got a call from the local museum, they asked me if I wanted to come and search a field on which they have found some burial grounds from the Roman ages, of course i said yes on the spot. Then after three hours I decided finally to quit for the day after finding practical nothing. I went up where the museum people where and searched a pile of durt, and there I found the best find of the last two years. A fibula of some kind, can anyone help with the style and the age of this find.

Thank you cw. It could look like a bow brooch from the Roman ages. Golddiver I hope that I will find some more at the excavation, in the next few days.

Sorry about the wrong spelling, I just got a message from the museum, she thinks that is a eye fibulae the time period is year 0-100, so my oldest find to date.

Nope Fibula is also correct. (Commonly used)

Tough one, the joint in the middle puzzles me because it looks like it sticks into the pin direction & not out on the top. Very odd.
The closest I think is the 1st C AD European type called Kraftig profilierte.
