Metal Detecting
Just obeying the rules to post a bit about myself:

Metal detector newbie.

Purchased a metal detector last fall because we own some land in Oklahoma with an old house site and it looked like fun to detect around it.

Just took a tour last Friday of the Garrett factory in Garland, TX...got us stoked.

We have found some odd things around our house (built in 1999) including a shotgun shell dating to around 1900 and a silver ring.

Lots of weird finds around the house site in Oklahoma, but nothing valuable except a couple of rusted out 1940's pickups ;)

Anyway, just saying hello !

Welcome to the forum.

The good finds are sure to come, just pay attention to what your detector is telling you.

Go slowly at first, when you find a target you can play with your settings a bit to see if you can 'tune it in' a bit to get a better signal.

The general settings should be to run as low a discrimination setting as you are comfortable with, and sensitivity as high as the conditions allow.

Also, make sure to post your finds on T-Net!
